About Granny Grubbypaws’ Garden

My son set up a website on freewebs.com as a Christmas present for 2006. It was to keep my brain ticking over when I retired the following year! I had kept a garden diary going back to 1979, the year we moved to this seaside villa in North Yorkshire, so now I had an electronic journal which I began in January 2007 before retiring that March. Eventually, after having technical problems with the freewebs site, my son advised a migration to another free website so I made the switch to Google at the end of April 2012 and now, in September 2015, I am starting again on wordpress.com. All this learning of new systems was certainly keeping my brain going!

Photographs and drawings are mine unless otherwise acknowledged. The Granny Grubbypaws avatar is by Janet Campbell. Why Granny Grubbypaws? This is my nickname, for obvious reasons, and from a character in the stories I wrote for my grandchildren when they were small.

As for my gardening style, I'm not into bossy tasking where you've got to do a great list of things every week: I like easy gardening for wildlife, pottering about and enjoying it all, more like "playing out": nothing too strenuous, all very laid back and lumbago-free.
